Clay is earth. And clay is care.
With warmth, imagination, and repetition, clay is transformed into a form.
In this way, my ceramic practice is closely connected to my work as a doula. Working with clay (or with people) is slow, and requires radical empathy for sharp corners and hard edges.
A sculpture can be a gift. Or a memory. It can become part of everyday rituals, or stand symbolically on a mantelpiece. A sculpture can bring comfort. It can give shape to something that has no form, but does have a feeling.
That is what I try to do with Alma Ceramics: to find, somewhere, a form for the formless.
I’m selling a selection of my works. Get in touch if something speaks to you.
